Prishtina, 2nd of August 2016 – Today, next to the Basic Court in Prishtina, Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosova, has filed indictment against the defendant V.C., charged for committing criminal offense: attempted, Joining or participation in a foreign army or police, in foreign paramilitary and parapolice formations, in organized groups or individually outside the territory of the Republic of Kosova, as stipulated by Article 3, paragraph 3 of the Law Nr. 05/L -002 on Prohibition of Joining the Armed Conflicts.

As per the indictment, the defendant V.C,  on 29.12.2015 together with his fiancée, L.M., have attempted to join the terrorist organization ISIS in Syria. On 29.12.2015 around 18:30 they have travelled to Istanbul-Turkey through the International Airport of Prishtina, “Adem Jashari”, and following the arrival in the Airport “Ataturk” in Istanbul and the security checks by Turkish authorities, entry in Turkey was denied to them, and the following day, on 30.12.2015 they were deported immediately from Turkey to Kosova.

Thus, the respective has committed criminal offense: attempted, Joining or participation in a foreign army or police, in foreign paramilitary and parapolice formations, in organized groups or individually outside the territory of the Republic of Kosova, as stipulated by Article 3, par.3, of the Law no. 05/L -002 on Prohibition of Joining the Armed Conflicts outside State Territory, in conjunction with Article 28 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosova.

The indictment was filed by a local Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosova, who has recommended to the Court that following the administration of evidences and closure of the trial, to find the defendant Guilty for the criminal offense he is being charged, and to judge him as stipulated by Law.
